-Generic (one-size-fits-all) orthotics can be mildly effective for back and/or foot pain relief, especially when providing shock absorption; but usually work best when custom fit.
- Straightforward to use. Don't require a lot of time to implement.
- Most generic versions are relatively inexpensive, but custom fit ones can be very expensive. .
- There is an incredible amount of critical reviews of Walk Fit orthotics online. Research before buying!
- If orthotics work, they only work while being used. Sometimes benefits are temporary because the body adjusts.
- Does not retrain/rebalance any postural muscles to permanently correct poor posture.
- Since everyone's feet are structured differently, buying generic ones is usually not the most optimal.
Shoe inserts or orthotics may be helpful as a short-term solution, preventing injuries in some athletes. But it is not clear how to make inserts that work. The idea that they are supposed to correct mechanical-alignment problems does not hold up.

Why BODY-ALINE is Better for Your Posture:
The effectiveness of various feet orthotics, like Walk fit, for foot and/or back pain relief is hit or miss for most people. Understand, just like fingerprints, no two people's feet are the exact same. So it's very unlikely that a one-size-fits-all orthotic like Walkfit is exactly what will work for your particular foot. If you're committed to going this route it's best to invest more & buy custom orthotics fitted specifically for your feet.
Many of these products claim to correct posture and may provide some mild benefit in this regard. However, it is mechanically impossible for feet orthotics of any kind to rebalance any muscle or connective tissue above the ankle line, so their effectiveness as a posture solution is VERY limited. In other words, if you have forward rounded shoulders caused by an imbalance in your chest, upper back & shoulder muscles, then you'll continue to have rounded shoulders until this muscle imbalance is corrected - no matter what material you place beneath the soles of your feet.
Overall, the right feet orthotics can certainly help reduce back, body & foot pain because they provide more shock absorption (cushion) and improve foot alignment to reduce stress points- just don't expect them to realign your spine. Many have asked the question: Do feet orthotics really work for posture? This analysis summarizes why, in our opinion, the BODY-ALINE is a better overall posture solution compared to even the best feet orthotics insoles for posture.
A Personal Review of Walkfit Orthotic Insoles for Posture from Robert Gearhart JR., Co-inventor of the BODY-ALINE...
"Buying foot orthotics to correct your posture is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Sure it's tempting to think you can buy a set of hard plastic orthos for $40 & slap them underneath your feet then expect your poor posture to be cured, right? Wrong. Don't believe the hype. It takes a lot more than that to correct all the muscles associated with poor posture to permanantly draw your spine back into proper alignment.
However, if you're one of the fortunate ones lucky enough to stumble upon a commercialized/inexpensive orthotic that actually fits your feet, and makes you feel better, then, by all means, use it. But they will NOT correct your posture. Try correcting your posture first with the guided exercise motion of the BODY-ALINE then, with the new found improvement in your walking gate, you, quite possibly, won't have the need for orthotics."
