McCARTY's SACROEASE PROS:
- Sacro Ease has many positive online customer reviews. It does appear to work.
- Super easy to use. Just put it in your automobile and have a seat.
- Been around since 1940. Brand is well established.
- Offers cushioning for the rear & extra lumbar support to insure correct posture while driving/sitting.
- Offers a limited 5 year warranty, which is pretty rare for any type of posture enhancing product.
McCARTY's SACROEASE CONS:
- Can be expensive for some.
- Only works while being used. Have to take it with wherever you sit.
- Doesn’t permanently correct the muscle imbalance that causes poor posture.
- It's still entirely possible to slouch when using these devices.
Why BODY-ALINE is Better for Your Posture:
Passive lumbar realignment devices come in many forms: rollers, mesh, pads, pillows and sleeves. They can be used in the car, office, home, and there are even some portable ones that can be taken to sporting events, theaters, musicals, etc. Seated posture/lumbar supports & cushions are generally very effective for providing continuous support (padding) to the lumbar region of the spine to reinforce the normal S-curve while sitting. But, they don't do much to actively correct the internal muscle imbalances that cause poor posture.
Plus, it's still very possible to slump forward while using seated lumbar supports because you have to lean all the way back into them, at all times, while sitting, to get the maximum benefit; and most people are not dedicated or conscientious enough to position themselves firmly back in their seat - at all times.
Ultimately, the biggest component to maintaining perfect spinal alignment at ALL times is restoring balance to posture muscles. McCarty’s SacroEase (and other lumbar supports) don't actually exercise any postural muscles. They ONLY work while being used; and are somewhat restrictive because it’s not always possible to bring a lumbar support with you wherever you sit. However, this should take nothing away from the overall effectiveness of the SacroEase type of seated posture supports. They can increase comfort and reinforce good posture while sitting.
We recommend buying & using the Sacro Ease (and/or other seated lumbar/posture supports) in conjunction with the BODY-ALINE. The BODY-ALINE helps you have good posture ALL the time, while the extra support provided by these products helps to reinforce that good posture some of the time. Therefore, use them together. Many have asked the questions: "Do lumbar supports work?" and "Are back supports effective?" This analysis summarizes why, in our opinion, the BODY-ALINE is a better overall posture solution compared to even the best lumbar supports for car seats & office chairs, like the Sacro-Ease back support.
When we use a chair that has a lumbar support, we can still slouch right into it.

A Personal Review of McCarty's Sacro-Ease from Robert Gearhart JR., Co-Inventor of the BODY-ALINE...
"The SacroEase (along with other styles, types & brands of lumbar supports) should be part of your poor posture prevention strategy because most seats (in particular car seats) are horrible for posture. Have you ever noticed, especially on sportier models, how the lumbar (low back region) of car seats are mostly concave? This forces your spine to bow forward, which profoundly rounds your back when you sit. It almost seems like automobile designers are trying to ruin peoples' postures for some reason. In order to achieve good posture while driving and/or sitting in furniture, your spine should be inspired to maintain its natural S-curve. Most chairs, car seats, stools & couches do a poor job of this.
With that being said, the only real downfall of the lumbar supports is that it's still entirely possible to sit in a chair with extra lumbar support/padding and still slouch forward. So it's not an end-all-be-all solution for bad sitting posture. These devices make a nice supplement to the BODY-ALINE but are far from being a good permanent solution. They are more like a 'band-aid' over a cut, whereas the BODY-ALINE 'heals the cut'- if you will."
